GENUINE TEMPORARY ENTRANT
The Australian student visa system is designed for international students who genuinely wish to study, gain new skills, and return to their country of origin at the completion of their studies. When applying to study with Pacific Training Group you may be asked for more information to assess your intentions in studying. You may also be asked for more information by the Department of Home affairs prior to being granted a visa.

UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI)
All students undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia require a USI. This is a government requirement. Prior to commencing your classes you will be asked to create a USI if you don’t already have one. It’s quick, simple, and free!
For further information, and to create a USI, please see www.usi.gov.au
Pacific Training Group uses a variety of assessment methods to test students’ competency in each unit of study. Each unit on your learning platform provides an assessment summary, and in addition, students will also receive an individual student unit guide explaining the unit requirements and assessment due dates. Types of assessment methods may include:
Written tests may be open or closed book exercises, which may involve multiple choice questions, short answer questions, case studies, and essays.
Case studies and written reports
Case studies and reports require you to analyse, problem solve and apply your learning from the course to the situation described. They require you to demonstrate appropriate levels of research and understanding.
Presentations and role plays
Group work and presentations of information assess your teamwork and communication skills.
DEFERRING OR SUSPENDING A COURSE
Pacific Training Group has various study break periods scheduled throughout the year. During this time you may wish to return to visit family, travel or even work unrestricted hours. Additional holiday breaks outside of these scheduled weeks are generally not permitted.
It is an Australian government requirement that international students are not permitted to defer commencement of their studies, or suspend their studies, except on the grounds of:
- serious illness
- exceptional compassionate circumstances beyond the control of the student
- student misconduct or misbehaviour
Deferment, suspension and cancellation may affect your visa and any approved leave we grant must be reported to the Australian government.
For further information on our deferral, suspension and cancellation policy please see our Policies and Procedures Manual available on our website.
CREDIT TRANSFER AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Pacific Training Group has in place systems to offer Credit Transfer (CT) to assess an individual’s formal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of, a VET qualification.
Applications for CT may be made together with your application for enrolment or prior to course commencement. For international students an approved CT will mean early completion of qualification and the reduced duration will be reported on PRISMS.
